From August to September, were less 18%.  Comparing the third quarter of this year with last year s, we have a fall of 24%.  Year to date, less than 13%.  Expressed in figures, this year have been sold so far 1,242,891 motorcycles against 1,434,322 in the same period last year.

But anyway? What is really causing sales to fall?  According to ABRACICLO, the Brazilian Association of Manufacturers of Motorcycles, Scooters, mopeds, Bicycles and the like, the main reason is the lack of consumer credit, since 85% of new motorcycles sold for classes C, D and e of the population.  In 2011, 52% of motorcycles had financing 100% of its value and 27% was acquired by the Consortium.  This year, due to the high rate of disapproval of proposals for new financing, that number dropped to 41%.  The percentage of motorcycles purchased through Consortium has increased, as well as the sight, which meant 21 percent last year against 25% in 2012.

Sales of motorcycles over 500 cm3 grew 13% so far.  Last year meant a slice of 2.24% (32,179 units) of the market and this year has totaled 2.9%, with 36,440 bikes sold. On the other hand, the export was discharged from 57%, and the target of most of these bikes is the Argentina and Mexico.  But this number still represents a very small share of the domestic production. The forecast, as telling a small recovery from this month, because of the new credit line announced by the Caixa Econômica Federal in day 03 passed, is that the year close with 17% drop. If sales fall, the production follows the same path, and about 2,000 jobs in the sector have already been cut.
